Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas Everyone!! This year for Christmas the best gift that I received was having all of my family be together in one house! Wow, now that has been a while, but I totally loved it! I could not be happier, and by far it beats the presents that could have under the tree! My family is so funny when we get together. My ditsy twin sister was so excited to show me her footsie pajamas that when she came prancing down the stairs, she slipped and ran into our kitchen wall, the corner of it and dented it, ha I am so surprised that she didn't break her knee, but the poor wall ha! I hope that we can remember the true meaning of Christmas. Presents are wonderful, but that is not what Christmas is about. It's about remembering the birth of Christ and all the sacrifices that he made for us during his life. I love this season, and I love how close everyone becomes at this time! The miracles are countless and and magnificent, it's amazing to see how everyone sacrifices things for other people, even when there is noting to be given. I also love, at Christmas time, all of the lights on the houses, it brightens up peoples moods about the holiday, and some are very creative.

Yesterday, I was able to go snowboarding for my second time, with my cousins. It was so so much fun, even though I fell countless times, I had the time of my life! We went to Brighton and when I was coming down Crest, I took a pretty hard fall, except this time, instead of falling on my bum, I fell forward on my knees, I have a swollen and bruised knee, yippie! I guess that's what you get for it being your second time and the last time I went, was a year ago. Snowboarding is so thrilling and is a way good work out! Since I just had a whole bunch of mouth work done, I wore a mouth guard, ha I got lots of comments on it. And my teeth survived and I worked hard to stay up, and finally my last couple runs, I was able to stand up, but my legs were so tired they would just give out on me, I guess that's what you get for snowboarding for 7 1/2 hours and it being your second time!

How I almost died ha ha, the on the left (my right one) is way swollen

Potty Training and tips

I know most of you won't care about this post, but I know my future self will be grateful for it. Potty training is so tricky and it really tested my patience. I know everyone experiences it differently and each kid is different. I did a bunch of research on tricks and tips. I didn't just stick to one, I tried a few different ones and even combined some. Let's start from the beginning. Spencer and I wanted to have Evie potty trained before our new little one arrives. I can't even begin to tell you how many people told me I should wait until the new baby came. A good chunk of these same people told me Evie was too young (she is 22 months) and it wasn't worth my time to even try. Here's the thing; I kind of get why people told me these things, but it really made me doubt my abilities to teach Evie a hard task. Let's all be kind and not mom shame those who try things differently and earlier than others. I am with her all day, every day and paid attention to a...

Help me raise money for a cause (Part 1)

As many of you know, I have Type 1 Diabetes for 10 years in August 2013. For those of you who don't know, I would like to share my story (in summary). At the end of the school year while in the 5th grade I started to lose my vision. Things started to change quickly inside of my body. I was never feeling fully energized and I was constantly feeling like I had to go to the bathroom and drink lots of water. I started to lose weight and the color in my cheeks started to disappear. The first two weeks in the 6th grade I weighed a scarce 73 pounds. My eyes were sunk in and my cheek bones were poking out. My mom took me to the doctors. After a quick finger prick, they found out that my blood sugar was 831mg/dl. (Normal target range is 80-120 mg/dl) That was a very dangerous number! I was then told I had to be taken directly to Primary's; I couldn't even go home to get things. Both my mom and I were in a mix of emotions. Not long after being admitted to the hospital, I was given th...

Shiveley's take California 2015

This is our California adventure. Lots of pictures here because I didn't want to blow up your Instagram feed or Facebook feed Spencer and I have been dying to go back to California pretty much since we got back from our honeymoon. (I don't really remember the exact time though). Suddenly we were saving up and then we bought our tickets to an Angel's game as soon as they were available. We were like little kids and were counting down the days until we could go. Finally the time came for us to leave our little apartment for a few days to enjoy our vacation. We woke early on the day we left and literally hit zero traffic. Of course I drifted off for a little bit, as I normally do on road trips. While driving we came upon this huge and long cloud that covered the road. It was way neat, so naturally I snapped a picture in the midst of it. On our way there we realized we were making great timing. We arrived in Vegas around 11:30ish. We decided we needed to get out and stret...
