What is love?

What is love? (Come on I know all of you started singing it... What is love... baby don't hurt me... at all!). With Valentine's Day approaching I thought this would be an appropriate time to post again(of course it is going to be mushy!). I keep telling myself I need to post more, but I don't, I am terrible at it. So I hope you forgive me and enjoy! The past couple of months time has just flown by and there are times that I wish I could slow it down just for a minute so that I can catch up. I feel like I have been running a marathon with all that I have been doing. With me being in school again, and the husband being totally engulfed by school and work, there has hardly been time for us to do anything. If you have read my other posts, you know I say this a lot, but being married to an engineer student is hard. Everyday I have to compete with text books, coding processes, MatLab, and extremely boring videos on how to solve problems. There are still times that I am bitter b...

Shiveley Christmas 2015

Merry Christmas one and all! This is one of my most favorite times of the year, and for those of you who know me, know I take a ton of pictures. So I decided to not spam your Facebook feed or Instagram feed with all of my pictures. So this is why I am blogging, to share more than I already have! December is always a crazy time of the year, and as usual goes by way too fast. Soon it will be 2016, and boy do we have a lot in store for us. So what have we done this December? -We started it off by doing lots of preparing for end of the semester, and both of us going back to school by saving money, applying for new jobs/promotions, and enjoying the time we could spend with each other. One tradition we have started and hope to keep up is going to the Festival of Trees. This year did not disappoint and I loved reading all of the stories about the trees that were donated. This tradition holds a special place in my heart as all the proceeds go to Primary Children's Hospital. Every year I ...

SOUPER Saturday Activity

Friends, for my church I am part of wonderful organization called the Relief Society... maybe you have heard of us? Just kidding I am sure you have! Anyway, I have the opportunity to be part of the presidency. Part of my calling is being over activities. When I first was called I was quite nervous to think of activities that everyone would like. I also had quite the challenge as we were struggling getting sisters to come. I don't know what it's been but I know that Heavenly Father has blessed our ward and every activity we have done has been very successful! Today we had a wonderful activity! I was wanting to do a service project and wanted a good outcome. As I pondered over what the theme should be, I felt as if it should be along the lines of being a super hero (since those are so big right now). So I stuck with the theme and changed it up a bit. Here is what I came up with... "S.O.U.P.E.R. Saturday". I had sign-ups for soup, salad, and rolls, and with this I pass...

Sugar and Spice Baby Shower

I had the lovely opportunity to throw a baby shower with my oldest sister Lindsey for my twinner Kelsey. We decided to go with the theme of "Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice." It was so much fun and I'll be honest made me super baby hungry! I am so excited to become an Aunt again, and even more excited to meet baby Mia. Yay for baby girls! Here are some highlights from the shower, it really did turn out super cute! We had a headband making station to add to this little girl's SPARKLE! So no matter where she goes she will leave a little sparkle! All of the headbands turned out so different and so cute!  I had so much fun making a fabric garland (and it totally matches Mia's bedding made by Nana Cunningham). It has floral fabric, gold triangle fabric, lilac fabric, gold glitter ribbon, gold and cream polka-dot fabric. It turned out so cute, I am quite proud (not to sound conceited or anything).  For food we wanted to stick with the ...

One Year Down, Forever to Go!

Happy Anniversary Love! I can't believe it has been a whole year since we were married. I have looked back on who we were when we got married and who we have become and I love it. October 9, 2014 will always be my favorite day (and yes I know I will probably say that when I have children but...), because it was a start of a new adventure. It was a start of a new life and pathway in which I will always have my one and only by my side. Marriage. Wow, where do I even start? To be completely honest, this year has been such a blessing of continual learning, good and the bad arguments, and even happy and sad tears. No one ever told me about all of the emotions that marriage brings. They really should offer a class for this. I have loved my husband since the first time he told me he loved me. Let's go down memory lane shall we? We were driving home from one of our date nights and Spencer was being nervously quiet. He would not let go of my hand and he would not let a word slip out. H...

A Weekend in Grand Junction, Colorado!

I had the wonderful opportunity to go visit my bestie Cierra Larsen in the beautiful Grand Junction, Colorado. I was so excited to have a little get away, but sad it ended so quickly. I left early from work and drove down on Friday night. I was a little nervous because I have never driven to Colorado, but it was a pretty quick drive. My GPS kept me company as did my music. Before I knew it, I had arrived. It only took me just over 4 hours to arrive there ( I was shocked!). After I got there Cierra and her roommate Alyssa, took me to a Chinese restaurant, it was quite tasty! After, a quick trip to Walmart to get some things for our run on Saturday made me feel just at home. I swear we spent the entire night talking and catching up (just where we left as, as best friends always do!) The next morning came too early! We ran in a Superhero 5K around the Colorado Mesa University. Guys I am not a runner at all. I haven't run in a very long time, and I was quite proud of myself for even...

One of my favorite walls

There have been times that I come home from work or other places, exhausted, frustrated, and uneasy. I have always been a home body and love the comfort I get when inside. When I was preparing to move out when I got married I dreamed of decorating my own place, of hanging my own pictures, of designing the way my furniture was set up. Since I have been married almost one year, I never realized that I have one wall in particular I love to look at. It is in my bedroom, the wall opposite of where our bed sits. I see this wall as I wake up, go to sleep, start and end my day. It's not that big of a deal, and it's actually quite bare, but there are 3 things on there that I love. The first thing is a picture of my husband and I (one that I put together with the lyrics to our first dance), on our wedding day, dancing to our song, "Breathe" by Angels and Airwaves. This picture brings back the giddy feeling of being in a room full of people and the only person I had any knowl...
