Shiveley's 1st Summer

Well friends and family, I know it has been a while since I have last blogged. I say that every time. But I felt that now would be a good time to blog because the summer is coming to a close. As our first summer together, we did so many things. I sure am going to miss spending so much time with my handsome man, but school right now is the number one priority to finish. Where do I even begin? This summer was amazing, seriously! I hope you don't mind me reverting back to my old bullet point list, but I am. Enjoy! This summer Spencer and I have been able to get to know each other on a whole new level. We have spent all of our free time with each other and took advantage of having so much time to do what we wanted. Yes Spencer still was taking classes, but both were online classes. I had fun listening to the videos he had to watch (most of the time it was during breakfast or preparing dinner). We got to experience what it is like to literally be cooked in our apartment. During th...

Shiveley's take California 2015

This is our California adventure. Lots of pictures here because I didn't want to blow up your Instagram feed or Facebook feed Spencer and I have been dying to go back to California pretty much since we got back from our honeymoon. (I don't really remember the exact time though). Suddenly we were saving up and then we bought our tickets to an Angel's game as soon as they were available. We were like little kids and were counting down the days until we could go. Finally the time came for us to leave our little apartment for a few days to enjoy our vacation. We woke early on the day we left and literally hit zero traffic. Of course I drifted off for a little bit, as I normally do on road trips. While driving we came upon this huge and long cloud that covered the road. It was way neat, so naturally I snapped a picture in the midst of it. On our way there we realized we were making great timing. We arrived in Vegas around 11:30ish. We decided we needed to get out and stret...

Women's Conference 2015

Friends, I had the incredible opportunity to go to BYU's Women's Conference with my generous mother-in-law and both of my sisters-in-law. This was my first time and the experiences I had I will cherish forever. I will tell you right off I will be sharing some personal and spiritual things. I am not trying to convert anyone or change how you believe  in things, but I wanted to write down how I felt after such an amazing two days of being uplifted by the spirit. Women's Conference is held at Brigham Young University, and is for women mostly, however there are some men that tag along. It is two days long filled with LDS speakers and talks. There are 15 or so talks to choose from each hour, for three hours. You get to choose which classes you want to go to and quite honestly if I had the time and will power I would have gone to much more than that. There is a morning session before we all break out into our classes of choice (all over campus) and then we all met back together...

Onto to a new place

I know I am late at posting this, but it really is never too late to blog! Of course I have many things to update you on, but this one is only going to be about one. Way back in February, Spencer and I started looking for a new place to live as our lease was coming to an end. Everywhere we looked (online mostly) appeared to be amazing, until we read the reviews or actually drove by. Each time we got a bad feeling and onto the next place we went. Now, #10 was great, but we wanted a few updates. We wanted a fresh smelling apartment, a little extra space, and a bathroom with no mold growing on the ceiling due to an awkward window and no fan. Was that too much to ask? Well I guess it was until we had the idea to go talk to our current landlord to see if they had any openings in a different building. As I walked in I was nervous to hear, "Sorry, we don't have any more openings". They were working on a new building with 16 brand new apartments and we had seen people move it. ...

Living with Type 1 diabetes

Hey friends! This blog is dedicated to all of those who are suffering from yet living a full  and normal life with Type 1 diabetes. With a life long disease, isn't it wonderful to live in a time where we will find a cure one day for this disease? The technology is amazing and continues to help all of those who who have diabetes live a normal life. I would like to explain what it is like living with an autoimmune disease such as Type 1 diabetes. A normal day for a diabetic: Wake up, shower, get ready Test blood sugar, good number Prepare breakfast Count carbs Bolus Prepare lunch Count carbs Go to work Drink water Lunch time Test blood sugar, good number Bolus Back to work Drink water Clock out, go home Test blood sugar Go to the gym Test blood sugar, good number Eat snack Count Carbs Bolus Prepare dinner Test blood sugar, good number Eat dinner Count carbs Bolus Get ready for bed Test blood sugar, good number, no snack Go to bed Repeat. Wait... that...

Addicted to Love

Hey friends! I hope all is going well with you. Life lately has been so wonderful yet challenging at the same time. I continue to learn things everyday and grow closer to my husband. Marriage is a never ending lesson, however; I love learning how to be a better wife, learning how to communicate effectively, and most importantly increase the love that I have for others. I hate to admit this but I am a huge sap for romance. Valentine's Day, one of my least favorite holidays,  has made me strive to show that same kind of love that is advertised everyday. So I am challenging myself to make everyday like Valentine's Day. I love watching chick flicks, crying at cute things, and of course love eating chocolate. I believe that Valentine's Day is overrated with expensive flowers, candy, dates etc.... but I also am guilty of trying to make a day full of cheesy yet sentimental things. This year was our first Valentine's Day as Mr. and Mrs. Shiveley. It was quite wonderful! The w...
